KKIS Mission: Change Lives Through Education

Our mission is to improve graduation rates and prepare students for careers; changing lives through education.

KKIS envisions a future where every student who wants an education, can get it. Students are supported from Kindergarten through University through a variety of programs that provide financial assistance, educational support and community connections.

School Supplies

The first week of school, KKIS donors and volunteers give primary and secondary students a year’s worth of school supplies and bring the KKIS Scholars to talk to each classroom about staying in school.

Scholarships & More

High school and university scholarships are awarded to promising students with financial need who have demonstrated acedemic excellence and the drive to achieve their dreams through education. Student are chosen through a rigorous application and interview process that incorporates feedback from public school administrators, teachers, and parents.

KKIS has teamed up with local youth counslors who volunteer as Advisors and meet regularly to take the KKIS high school scholars through a grade specific curriculum that imparts civic values and life skills that will help them attain their goals.

KKIS university scholars are provided Mentors who  are role models for the students, and assist them with networking and preparing for the next step in their lives following graduation.

English Conversation Club

KKIS teams up with public high school English teachers, bringing volunteers to local public schools (and now online via zoom) to help students with pronunciation and conversation. Students who complete a minimum of 12 years of school and who are bilingual have exponentially increased their earning power.

Connections

KKIS connects young students, with new experiences; inspirational speakers, academic contests and fieldtrips. Older students, are  connected with the broader community; students are offered discounts at universities and assistance with the application process.

Ensureing that KKIS Scholars don’t become a 1st Generation University Graduate statistic (only 30% find work in their field of study), KKIS graduating seniors are introduced to contacts and job opportunities, they recieve help with their resumes, and interviewing skills.
