Want to take home memories of Playa del Carmen created by yourself?
Three female artists in Playa have offered to teach painting techniques three days this week with all the proceeds going to benefit the KKIS Project (Keeping Kids in School). Following the example of “Cocktails and Canvas” in the US, wine and snacks will be offered with a 2 1/2 hour painting session after which each participant will go home with a finished art piece.
Thursday, March 5, Beth Potvin will offer water color painting at her home at the Meridian on Calle 40 between Ave. 5 and the beach from 9:30 am to noon with coffee and cookies. Friday from 4 – 6:30 pm Scottie Watson will teach pen and ink with water color at her home in The Elements on CTM and the beach. And Saturday Janet Lowe will teach drawing with soft pastels on paper also at Scottie’s home from 4 – 6:30 pm.
Each of the works created, sized 8″ X 10”, will be perfect for matting and framing under glass. The classes will include all materials you need, patient instruction and a glass of wine to loose your artistic talent. Price for each class is 500 pesos. Minimum registration is 5 people and maximum of 10 (max. 5 for Beth’s class) so the classes will be small and personal. Registration will be taken at the 4th Annual KKIS Project Auction and Lunch Wednesday, March 4, 11am at Wah Wah Beach Club, Calle 2 and the beach or by sending a message to Janet’s Facebook page: Janet Lowe.
More information and examples of the teachers’ work will be available at a table at the KKIS event. Sign up for one or all three and help the KKIS Project provide school supplies to needy kids in Playa.
