Last week KKIS Board members met with the Director of the CETMAR high school currently located in the Guadalupana neighborhood. A new school is being built for them which they hope to move in to next week in Villas del Sol. The students at this technical school study the sea and spend time each week snorkeling and scuba diving.
We had been told that there were 15 students in dire need of financial support, so we arrived with 15 donated backpacks filled with school supplies and a bag of snorkel gear and flippers. Also applications for financial scholarships were received. Sufficient funds have been raised for seven students’ school fees, uniforms and transportation, but there are more hopefully waiting. Our figures for an entire year of study: 5,000 pesos – $312 USD. If you would like to help, click the donate button on the home page of the KKIS website or be in touch if you have used snorkel and scuba gear.
