When we arrived at the school where we have been helping with English this morning, the students were all waiting but there was no teacher. Our friend Cesar, the volunteer teacher on Saturday, had been detained elsewhere so the class was ours. We started with conversation asking their names, a favorite color, best sport, if they have brothers and sisters and their favorite animal. Then we moved on to Simon Says which we have practiced with students at the Pelopidas School. They were not familiar with the game but learned quickly and had a great time. We also brought Bingo cards with images to help build vocabulary and peanuts to use as markers. The games went on and on and eventually the peanuts were devoured. Last week Gayle brought a bag full of school supplies and gave them as prizes to the winners of Bingo. The kids were disappointed that we had forgotten the bag today but we took names of the winners promising to remember next week.
