What Motivates Us

“The limits of my language mean the limits of my world.” – philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein, 1922, “Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus”

This simple statement of fact is quite profoundly felt here in the Riviera Maya, one of the most celebrated tourist destinations in all of Mexico.  Those entering the workforce who speak Spanish AND English will fare significantly better than those who speak only Spanish.

What We Do

Twice a week, KKIS volunteers work in a public high school with small groups of students who rarely interact with native English speakers.  Our focus is on conversation, pronunciation and building confidence in speaking English.

Participating in this all volunteer program is fun and easy.  KKIS provides a sheet of conversation starters, whiteboards, markers, and introductions.  Please join us!

How Does It Help?

Last year’s survey of student comfort speaking and understanding English showed a 1 point improvement on a 1-5 scale! Both students and volunteers are enjoying this program!

English Conversation Club at CETMAR 36

Days: Monday and Wednesday.
Meeting point: outside MEGA, at the Western Union sign.
Time: 10:20 A.M.
We will drive together to CETMAR 36 and be back at MEGA at 12:00.

Meeting point: outside MEGA, at the Western Union sign.

We will drive together to CECYTE I and be back at MEGA at 2:15.
