Giving Back: Edward Jones’ Commitment to Education in the Riviera Maya
During their annual company retreat in the Riviera Maya, Edward Jones employees participated in a meaningful team-building activity at The Grand Velas Resort. Coming together as a team, they packed backpacks filled with essential school supplies to be donated during KKIS’s upcoming school supply drive. These supplies will provide local students with the tools they need to succeed in the classroom.
At KKIS, a non-profit organization dedicated to education in Playa del Carmen, we are proud to partner with Edward Jones for a series of Give Back Events that are having a significant impact on local students. Over the course of five weeks, Edward Jones employees will dedicate their time and energy to packing school supply bags during their biannual retreat at Grand Velas Resort. These supplies will be distributed to elementary public school students at the start of the 2025-2026 school year, ensuring they have everything they need to excel.
Edward Jones’ Ongoing Commitment to Community Impact
The first Give Back Event kicked off with Edward Jones employees packing 100 school supply bags for students in Playa del Carmen. Each bag is filled with essential items such as notebooks, pens, pencils, and other learning materials that will support students throughout the school year.
During their five-day stay at the resort with their families, Edward Jones employees take part in a variety of seminars and team-building activities. These include leadership training, wellness sessions, and professional development workshops. On one special day, they hosted an ice cream social, where employees, alongside their spouses and children, packed the backpacks together. This event not only helped strengthen team bonds but also created lasting memories of giving back to the community. The event was a perfect example of how corporate social responsibility can enhance team cohesion and make a lasting difference in the lives of others.

We were thrilled to have KKIS scholarship students volunteer at the event, helping to organize and set up the supplies. Expanding the Impact: 620 Backpacks for Local Students
After the success of the first week of packing, Edward Jones increased the number of backpacks from 100 to 140 each week. By the end of the five-week program, a total of 620 backpacks will be packed and distributed to students. This generosity ensures that hundreds of students will start the school year with everything they need to succeed. These backpacks will not only help students get organized for the year ahead but also inspire confidence and hope for the future.
This partnership is a testament to the power of collaboration between businesses and local organizations to make a tangible difference in the lives of students. It is through efforts like these that we can build a stronger, more supportive community for future generations. The impact of these backpacks will last throughout the year, as they help students remain focused on their studies and continue to achieve their academic goals.
