Festivalgoers Make a Difference

Playa Luna and the Moon Palace concert series are again partnering with the KKIS Project to Keep Kids in School.

Donating school supplies to students in need is just one way to help the underserved students in the Riviera Maya. Your cash donation – either one-time or recurring provides a year’s worth of school supplies to students who need it.

You can also provide funding for full-year scholarships for deserving students who want to graduate but have financial barriers to pay for public school.

Your support is vital;

These students can only stay in school because of your generosity.

In the picturesque Riviera Maya, known for its stunning Caribbean beaches and rich Mayan culture, the absence of traditional industries like manufacturing and agriculture means most jobs are low-wage. This economic reality forces many families to prioritize immediate survival over education, leading to high teenage dropout rates. Many students would prefer to get a diploma, but family finances force them into low-wage jobs to help support the family.

At KKIS, we have students on scholarship to become Architects, Dentists, Lawyers, Accountants, Computer Programmers, and Fashion Designers, to name a few of the professions that will shape the future of the Riviera Maya.

While you might not know the name of the student benefiting from your donation, I want you to know that your support of a US-based non-profit enables a bright future for a deserving young individual.

KKIS provides financial assistance to help promising students develop essential language, life, and work skills.

Nuestro éxito se debe al generoso apoyo de particulares y empresas que comparten nuestros valores y visión.

What is the need?

Going to a public school in Mexico is not the same as going in the US. There are mandatory costs.

You have to pay to apply, pay for books, tuition, and uniforms, etc. Often, the expense per year of $650 USD for high school is beyond a familys budget when the minimum wage in Mexico is about $12 USD per day.

Acerca de KKIS

KKIS has grown significantly over the last 14 years. This past year, KKIS handed out 2,500 backpacks filled with a years worth of school supplies to underserved students.

We also provided 101 high school students with scholarships and 38 university students on their way to getting a degree.

Recognizing that education is often unaffordable for many families in Mexico, we remove financial barriers to keep kids in school through generous donations from individuals and companies who share our values and vision.

Who does KKIS help?

KKIS finds promising students who want to graduate high school or university. Through an application process, KKIS determines who qualifies for a scholarship. In addition to providing financial resources, KKIS also offers counseling, internships, phone data, and English classes to its scholarship students.
