Volunteers for The KKIS Project enjoy a strong bond helping the larger community. What makes this group exceptional is not just their commitment to the kids but also to each other.
In May we celebrated the life of one standout member, John Phillips, a KKIS supporter from the early days in 2013 until his last day on May 9, 2019.
John embodied the essence of the word community. He genuinely loved meeting people, getting to know them and spending his days being of service. He brought people of diverse backgrounds together, organized trips to the Cancun Opera, taught English at a senior community center and was a role model for other volunteers and students alike.
More than 50 people attended John’s life celebration held at one of his favorite places: La Tarraya Restaurant, Calle 2 and the beach. Janet Lowe, a KKIS Co-founder, organized the beautiful event.
John touched so many lives. He was a connector with an unwavering commitment to people. He will be missed.
