Recognizing that teenagers and young adults can greatly benefit from thoughtful guidance, KKIS provides programs to complement both high school and university scholarships.
The KKIS Advisor Program aims to connect small groups of students in high school with an adult who can guide them to achieve their individual academic and personal goals. The Advisory Program supplies built-in peer groups for students and provides them with an adult who knows them well and who can offer advocacy and support in difficult social and academic situations.
Following positive feedback from students and Advisors at the end of last year, we have expanded the number of sessions so the Advisors can both cover the curriculum, which relates to: life goal setting, social emotional learning, current events, civic participation and finding a career path after high school AND can have time for off-topic discussions, addressing student questions or concerns.
The KKIS Wings Program was designed to improve the sad national statistic that only about 25% of first-generation university students will attain a quality first job upon graduation. We aim to have 100% of our University graduates find quality jobs in their field after graduation.
The KKIS Wings Program is a required online self-guided training resource designed to close the “education to employment” gap by ensuring that when KKIS University Scholars finish their studies, they are prepared for employment with a resume, a portfolio that documents major projects or accomplishments, part-time work experience in their field, practical decision making experience, work world communication skills and confidence.
