“If it wasn’t for this scholarship, my boat would’ve sunk. I would’ve had to drop out of school, like my sister”, Daniela.
In six months’ time, Daniela, a student with a KKIS university scholarship, will be graduating in Business Administration from Universidad Tecnológica de la Riviera Maya (UT Riviera Maya).
The KKIS Project is proud to share with you her progress and more about her dreams and goals in her own words.
I am the first member of my family to go to university after high school
My sister had to drop out of university because my mother got sick. We had financial problems and we decided that she would study later on. This is why I don’t know what would’ve happened to me if I didn’t have the KKIS University Scholarship. Maybe I would’ve been starting a university career now… or never. Instead, I am only six months from graduating.
Studying a university career is filling me with joy, satisfaction, and pride. Throughout my life, I’ve encountered difficult situations, but adapting to new places, meeting new people, choosing a university career and talking in front of people has made me a strong and brave woman.
Since I started university three years ago, I feel more mature. I used to take things personally, but now I’m learning to take things with emotional intelligence, being assertive when making any decision.
Goals for the near future
My biggest dream, after graduating, is to study a Master’s Degree in Human Resources and a Ph.D. in Organizational Psychology.
I want to help people in need, with both my knowledge and, if possible, financially. I would like to give back to KKIS everything they’ve done for me.
Fight for your dreams!
Based on my experience, I would like to say that when the opportunity arrived I grabbed it. I made a commitment to my sponsors, to myself and to my family to give my best and finish university.
If there are obstacles in your way, look for other options. Choose one, the one that best works for you. Think about what you want for yourself, not what you want for others. You are the most important thing because if you’re not happy with yourself, you can’t be support for anyone emotionally and physically.
Having your own philosophy of life is imperative to achieve our dreams. If we don’t have a life philosophy, then what are we doing with our life? Why do we exist, then?
When I was having my internship interview in Sandos Caracol, the lady who is now my boss said to me: “wherever you go, shine. You never know who’s going to like your light”.
I want to thank my sponsor and The KKIS Project for the opportunity you’re giving me so I can finish my university career.
People like you deserve Heaven.
