The all-new kkisproject.org for The KKIS Project is a game-changer for a non-profit website. Featuring state-of-the-art technology such as a built-in CRM and artificially intelligent language translation, KKIS can help keep kids in school in ways we could never imagine before!

Hello, I am Jason Holland, Heart-Centered Creator, and Sr. Freelance Web Designer. Fancy title, but what does it mean to you? I’m the guy behind the all-new website non-profit website for The KKIS Project. KKIS has worked hard the last 10 years to keep kids in The Riviera Maya in school. And, the all-new website for KKIS does more than support those efforts; it supercharges them!

The all-new website for KKIS is more than just a design refresh. What’s going on underneath the hood is so powerful it opens up unique and new channels of opportunity for KKIS’ marketing efforts—including the ability to reach what we hope to be an ever-growing audience.

Enterprise-Class Hosting For KKIS Non-Profit Website

First, the new website features hosting by WP Engine. Why does this matter? Well, it means enterprise-level managed WordPress hosting with optimized security and performance. WP Engine’s features include:

  • Superfast loading for a better user experience,
  • Many security features which protect the site from hackers,
  • Daily backups,
  • Automatic WordPress updates (core, theme, and plugins),
  • 24/7 support,
  • Free CDN/SSL Certificate,
  • and SSL Encryption.

Geekspeak. Basically, what this means is that the KKIS website leverages enterprise-level security and performance optimization. Important stuff, right?

Non-Profit Website Security and Performance Optimization, Like Never Before!

The website also features additional security built-in using the iTheme Security plugin to further protect from brute force attacks on the login and comment forms. As well, the website features Google Recaptcha v.3 to prevent comments from spam.

The site also uses the industry-standard WP Rocket. Why does that matter? Every second counts and Google knows it! As of 2021, Google benchmarks page load time (both on desktop and mobile) in organic search listings. Every second counts, and the faster your website, the quicker the website, the better SEO ranking! That means more organic traffic, and more visitors converting to donors!

The website also uses the super popular RankMath Pro WordPress SEO plugin to optimize content for organic search even easier. Combined with game-changing Ubersuggest, the marketing team at KKIS is winning the game at higher SEO ranking in Google search with the head term and long-tail keyword suggests that matches the goals of KKIS to precisely what our audience is seeking.

For example, Ubersuggest helped us discover “help students in Mexico” to hone our SEO and marketing writing verbiage for a win-win SEO strategy.

Game-changer: CRM inside WordPress for a Non-Profit Website

But, wait, there is more! The all-new version 2.0 of the KKIS website leverages a self-hosted email marketing automation tool called FluentCRM. What does that mean? FluentCRM is another game-changer in the world of CRMs (contact relationship management). And we are VERY excited about this new tool! Why?

Because, with FluentCRM, we avoid the ever-rising costs of third-party services like Mailchimp, SalesForce, and SharpSpring. Unlike those third-party services, all of our contact management, email creation marketing strategy, sales funnels, and landing pages are all in one place—inside the website!

Combined with the power of WP Engine and iTheme Security, at KKIS we are confident our community, customers, donors, and contact privacy is safe and secure in our domain (not on some third-party hosting environment).

Plus, because FluentCRM is an all-in-one CRM with powerful integrations with our third-party donation partner, Classy.org, and payment gateways like Stripe via Classy, we have powerful tools at our disposal to raise awareness and fundraising efforts and new and exciting ways. We can’t wait to see the creative ideas our marketing team and YOU think up next!

Next-Generation Multilingual Translation using State-of-the-Art AI

Finally, to better serve both our English and Spanish-speaking audiences, the KKIS website now leverages the Weglot multilingual translation plugin for WordPress. Weglot uses state-of-the-art AI (artificial intelligence) to enhance translations better. We’ve already checked with a local Spanish teacher with a Ph.D. in Spanish literature from the University of Kentucky. Even she was surprised how well the translations are (running circles around Google Translator)!

Over the coming months, we will refine the translations and our email marketing strategy. And with tighter integration with our fundraiser partner, Classy.org, the possibilities are endless. Our efforts to help keep kids in the Riviera Maya in school are supercharged in ways never before possible. The new website is truly a state-of-the-art, enterprise-level website—for a non-profit in Mexico.

The last 18 months have been a crazy time for all of us, without exception. For kids beyond the 9th grade, in the state of Quintana Roo, while mandatory, the cost of school is out of pocket. For most families here in Playa, that’s an almost impossible cost to burden (especially in light of the COVID pandemic).

We have new and exciting ways to target our directives (volunteering, scholarship program, school supplies, etc.). All of us have a desire to help others and give back to our community. With our new website, KKIS is positioned to support your desire to help our community in areas that matter most to you. And best of all, the new website allows us to keep kids in school!!!

See, not all tech is bad! Tech gives us the superpowers we need to support our community!
