Because the KKIS Project believes that an orderly school environment is important for student morale and subsequent educational success, we have enlisted two large groups of visiting volunteers to help. Ten days ago one group planted a garden and landscaping plants.
Saturday, January 30, KKIS volunteers were joined by parents and teachers of students at the Rodolfo Menedez elementary school in Nicte Ha (Ave. 10 and about Calle 120). The job was to prepare surfaces for new paint on the entire interior surface of the wall enclosing the school plus the outer walls of the three classroom buildings. Also four picnic tables and benches needed repair and paint and trash needed to be raked and collected from the school ground. 8:00am – 4:00pm, it was a job well done.
Wednesday, February 3, 80 volunteers will arrive to prime and paint the surfaces that were prepared, build benches in front of classrooms, dig holes for fence posts to enclose an area with a wire fence for soccer play and further beautify the school campus.
