While visiting with the morning and afternoon directors of the Adriana Kupul Itza elementary school in Nicte Ha (a neighborhood at the north end of Playa del Carmen where we had given school supplies to every child last year), KKIS asked if there was anything we could do to help the teachers. The reply was, “Physical Education equipment, please!”. There are about 700 students in the school and the P.E. teachers simply had them running laps of the central courtyard.

KKIS sent out an appeal on social media for help – and help came. Chez Celine, a restaurant in Playa who has supported us for years, donated some serious pesos to purchase equipment and three other private donors stepped up with soccer goals, soccer balls and basketballs. We purchased jump ropes, volley balls a volleyball net, some more soccer balls and lots of orange plastic cones to mark the courts or to define a running course.

The kids were delighted. The P.E. teacher is only there two days a week but we know the equipment will be put to good use. Thanks to all who helped!
