Value Traded, a business in Playa del Carmen, approached KKIS a few months ago asking how they could help. It was suggested that they pay for scholarships of students at CETMAR high school in the Villas del Sol neighborhood. Their employees would become mentors for 15 young people, meeting them at least once each month to hear problems and triumphs. Value Traded agree to pay school fees, transportation, books, school supplies, uniforms and supply mentors. Shortly after they began planning a posada for those students and their families. That party took place today.
After a few speeches, mentors were introduced to their respective scholars, then certificates of award and shiny new backpacks were given to the students. Inside was a gift card to the new H & M store in Playa, Xmas cookies, a journal and other surprises. Their siblings also received gifts.
Mentors met with their assigned students, exchanged phone numbers and email addresses and got to know each other. And then posed for the group photo.
And a last shot of the whole crew from Value Traded who celebrated the day with the scholarship students.
