The Spanish band ParrandBoleros will be donating proceeds from their one time only concert in Playa to 3 charities, and KKIS is one of them!
ParrandBoleros, a music band from Murcia, Spain, will be playing in Playa del Carmen for one time only on Friday the 26th of July at 7:00 P.M. at the Teatro de la Ciudad to celebrate their 20th anniversary.
When the group started, 20 years ago, their musical influence came from Mexican artists, so they’ve always wanted to come to Mexico. Being in Playa del Carmen is a trip where they visit their origins.
During a press conference at the Thompson Hotel on July 23rd, members of the band explained why they wanted to come to Mexico to celebrate their two decades and donate a percentage of the proceeds to charity.
Fundación Jorge Alann, A.C. from Cancún, Festival Internacional de Música Cancún, and The KKIS Project, in Playa del Carmen were the chosen charities.
“We wanted to give to your charity because we consider it a beautiful cause, we’ve always given back to our community in Spain with charities helping immigrants and kids with autism”, said Antonio Hernández, singer and one of the 30 members of this band.
ParrandBoleros not only wants to share Romantic Latin American music with people around the world, but they also want to bring happiness to people in need.
Romantic music to KKIS
Members of ParrandBoleros consider that education is everything, that it can’t be reduced because of an economic crisis or any other reason. Budgets for education should never be reduced. Education ensures a prosper future for generations.
“Without education, we’re lost. Education is the basic pillar of our society. I would like to say to young kids to never abandon school, and also to their parents, please don’t abandon them, don’t think in the short term. Putting their kids to work is not the solution, they must finish university so that they can provide to their families and society more than abandoning school”, Antonio Hernández.
Gayle Collins, founder and Board Member at KKIS had the opportunity to share with members of the band more about education in Playa del Carmen.
“We’ve never had a Spaniard music band helping us keep more kids in school. We’re honored to be one of the chosen charities. Music plays a very important part of our education, too. Playing any instrument adds abilities, discipline and creativity, so with this concert we hope that students in Playa del Carmen will feel inspired to play music, too”, said Gayle Collins.
