The KKIS Project has decided to change directions a bit this year. Rather than going to neighborhoods to collect applications for school supplies we are working with DIF, the Social Services Agency in Playa del Carmen. They have identified an elementary school with 470 students on the DIF rolls who need help. It is located on about Calle 110 and Ave.40 at the north end of town. For us to assist these kids along with the 120 kids we helped last year at Cristo Rey school and 50 students at the special DIF school in town where we have been teaching English we will need more supplies.
There is a “Donate” button on this page with a PayPal account where financial help can be sent. We also need specific school supplies:
12 or 24 Packs of colored pencils
White or pink erasers
Round or pointed scissors
White out pens or bottles
Dollar stores in the US and Canada have these for much better prices but they are available in Mexico also.
Drop off locations for school supplies are:
The Snorkel Shop on Calle 28 in the Aldea Thai complex
Glamour Salon at the foot of the escalator in Mega on Ave. 30
Wah Wah Beach Bar between Juarez and Calle 2 on the beach
Colibri Beach Hotel on Ave. 1 and Calle 10
Please help make a child smile and increase her chance of success in the future.
