Empowering the Next Generation in Tulum: KKIS & Chili Piper’s Changemaker Journey

At KKIS, we believe education transforms lives, as well as Corporate Social Responsibility Riviera Maya—and through our inspiring partnership with Chili Piper, we’ve seen that belief come to life in Tulum. Over the last three years (2021–2024), Chili Piper has not only donated $90,000 USD, but has actively engaged with our students, becoming a driving force behind community transformation in the Riviera Maya.

Thanks to their incredible support, 15 students in Tulum participated in our Changemaker Program—a youth empowerment initiative designed to inspire leadership, civic engagement, and environmental responsibility.

Together, we’re building stronger communities through education and action.

A Cleaner Tulum: Students Take the Lead on Sustainability

One of the most impactful student-led initiatives addressed a pressing local challenge: the garbage crisis in Tulum.

With mentorship and seed funding from the program, students launched a campaign to reduce litter and raise awareness about waste management. They developed solutions, collaborated with local residents, and even organized a cleanup project that recycled over 200 pounds of material.

These hands-on experiences gave students real-world lessons in project management, teamwork, and environmental stewardship—skills they’ll carry forward into adulthood.

Education Meets Leadership: Skills That Last a Lifetime

The Changemaker Program wasn’t just about cleaning up neighborhoods. It equipped our students with vital tools like:

• Strategic thinking and problem-solving

• Communication and advocacy

• Research, planning, and reporting

• Team-building and leadership

Through workshops and personalized mentoring, our students gained confidence, discovered their voices, and learned that they could create real, measurable change in their community.

Chili Piper’s involvement didn’t stop at funding. Their team donated over 100 volunteer hours, participated in school visits, and personally connected with the students they supported.

 Why It Matters

In Mexico, fewer than 50% of students graduate from high school. At KKIS, thanks to donors like Chili Piper, we’re raising that number—one student, one project, one program at a time Corporate Social Responsibility Riviera Maya helps with this goal.

KKIS graduates 86% of our students, and many go on to become changemakers in their families and communities.
