Building Bicycles, Empowering Students
For the third consecutive year, Eloquest Healthcare partnered for Mexico Donations for education with Grupo Events for a meaningful team-building experience that directly benefits education in Playa del Carmen. This year, 34 enthusiastic participants came together to assemble 16 bicycles for deserving KKIS (Keeping Kids in School) students, helping them overcome transportation barriers and stay committed to their studies.
This year, Eloquest staff took 16 bikes in cardboard boxes and turned them into transportation for 16 deserving students in Playa del Carmen
Why Do High School Students Need Bicycles?
In the Riviera Maya, bicycles are more than just a mode of recreation—they are a necessity. Unlike other regions where school buses provide daily transportation, students here must find their own way to school. Many rely on public transportation or rides from neighbors, but these options can be costly and unreliable. By providing bicycles, we help students reach school more efficiently and affordably, ensuring they stay on track toward earning their high school diplomas.
Team Building with a Purpose
Corporate team-building events like this do more than just strengthen workplace collaboration—they create lasting social impact. After a series of engaging icebreakers, the participants were divided into six teams. Each team built three bicycles and designed three vision boards filled with words of encouragement and inspiration for the students.
The Cost of Education in Mexico
What many people don’t realize is that public high school education in Mexico isn’t free. Starting in 10th grade, students must pay application fees and other school-related expenses. The financial burden can force some students to drop out before completing their education. By donating bicycles, Eloquest Healthcare is directly helping students reduce transportation costs and gain greater independence in their daily commute.
A Fun and Impactful Experience
The event was filled with energy and enthusiasm as participants worked together to assemble the bikes. While bicycle assembly posed its challenges, teamwork and determination led to success. The experience reinforced the importance of collaboration while contributing to a cause that changes lives.
