KKIS Historia de un estudiante

Elena, from Chetumal, Quintana Roo, has overcome numerous challenges to pursue her dream of studying law. Growing up in a modest household, Elena developed a strong work ethic and a deep appreciation for education. Her early experiences, marked by financial hardship and frequent moves, instilled in her a resilience that would shape her future. Despite facing obstacles such as limited resources and family responsibilities, Elena excelled academically and discovered a passion for dance and the English language. Now, as a law student at the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Quintana Roo, she is determined to make a positive impact on her community and inspire others to pursue their goals.

Destacados

To me, education is all about

Algo muy importante, para mí es como una enseñanza que no sólo se da en la escuela, la educación también viene de casa, y nos ayuda a estar mejor preparados para la vida.

My favorite food is

Pozole / mole / or typical food of Honduras

Where would you go and why, if you could move anywhere in the world?

I would like to live in Switzerland, a German teacher I had told me what it was like to live there since it was his native country. Although I would also like to live with my grandmother in Palmar, a town near Chetumal.

Me siento inspirado por

My mother, because she has been a woman who has made an effort to give my sister and me the best, and although she has gone through many things, she keeps going, she does not give up and looks for a way to overcome obstacles, she always smiles and remains firm.

I am most curious about

Las personas que emigran, tengo curiosidad por saber más sobre por qué lo hacen aparte de tener una vida mejor, cómo toman esa decisión, cómo se preparan para emigrar, qué emociones sienten, etc.

What is the best advice you have ever received?

"Don't punish yourself for the decisions of the past, you did the best you could with what you knew at the time, now that you know better, try harder in the present".

Visión KKIS

Mejorar vidas mediante la educación.

KKIS (Keeping Kids in School) works to build stronger communities in Playa del Carmen by eliminating financial obstacles to public education. We believe every child deserves the opportunity to learn and succeed, and we are dedicated to making education accessible and affordable for promising students in our community.

Misión de KKIS

At KKIS (Keeping Kids in School), we believe that education reduces poverty, improves lives, and builds stronger communities. Recognizing that education is often unaffordable for many families in Mexico, we remove financial barriers to keep kids in school.
