Supporting Education in Mexico: KKIS Packing Event with Girls Just Wanna

Girls Just Wanna Weekend 6, held at the luxurious Barcelo Riviera Maya, recently concluded with a heartwarming display of community spirit. In a continued partnership with keeping kids in school(KKIS), attendees generously donated school supplies to support local education in Mexico.

This year marked the second consecutive year of collaboration between Girls Just Wanna and KKIS. Festival-goers were encouraged to bring school supplies, and the response was overwhelming!
The Keeping Up Foundation, founded by Brandi Carlile, actively participated in the event. Gloria, the Executive Director of the Keeping Up Foundation, provided invaluable support, lending a hand in organizing the school supply drive and assisting attendees in packing the bags. Together, attendees and the incredible Allison Porthier, a talented performing artist at the festival, diligently packed over 200 bags filled with essential learning tools.

These bags will be distributed to children in need across the region, ensuring they have the necessary resources to succeed in their education.

KKIS Vision

Improving lives through education.

KKIS (Keeping Kids in School) works to build stronger communities in Playa del Carmen by eliminating financial obstacles to public education. We believe every child deserves the opportunity to learn and succeed, and we are dedicated to making education accessible and affordable for promising students in our community.

KKIS Mission

KKIS provides programming that improves graduation rates for promising students and prepares them for life success by offering financial aid, community connections, and educational support. In addition to academics, KKIS helps students develop essential language, life, and work skills to build a stronger community.

Recognizing that education is often unaffordable for many families in Mexico, we remove financial barriers to keep kids in school through generous donations from individuals and companies who share our values and vision.
