Career Mentoring with Kappa Alpha Psi: Etiquette & Empowerment in Playa del Carmen
May 3, 2025 – Aloft Hotel – Playa del Carmen
How Career Mentoring Supports Students in Playa del Carmen
Empowering Students Through Mentoring
The Mexico Alumni Association of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. hosted a dynamic career mentoring session in Playa del Carmen in collaboration with The KKIS Project and Kiin Beh School. The event brought together university and high school students for a powerful morning of learning, connection, and inspiration at the Aloft Hotel Conference Room.
These types of mentoring sessions for students in Playa del Carmen are essential as they prepare to enter university or transition into professional environments. Beyond academic knowledge, young people need guidance on soft skills — from communication and etiquette to presence and confidence. This event delivered just that.
The session included 10 focused talks on professional etiquette, presented by Kappa Alpha Psi members visiting from the U.S. Topics ranged from respectful communication and attire to digital etiquette, social cues, and body language. Delivered in English with live Spanish translation, the format was designed to be both educational and inclusive.
A Meaningful Cross-Schools Exchange:
Students from Kiin Beh, a local private school, joined the KKIS university scholars for this special experience. Many were meeting for the first time, and the event created a space for connection between youth from different backgrounds with a shared goal: becoming confident, respectful, and prepared professionals.
“These are the tools that don’t always show up in a classroom — but they’re essential in every interview, every opportunity,” shared one of the Kappa mentors.
The event concluded with a Q&A session, where students could engage directly with the mentors, ask questions, and reflect on the lessons shared.
Thank You, Kappa Alpha Psi:
We extend our sincere thanks to Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity – Mexico Alumni Chapter for their generosity, time, and commitment to youth development in Playa del Carmen. Your efforts created a memorable and empowering morning that students will carry with them for years to come.
