The benefits of a university degree are known far and wide. In many countries there are government funded loans you can get to finance a degree. In Mexico that is not the case.

Did you know – 70% of 7th graders believe they will graduate with a university degree, yet according to the Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), only 45% of Mexican students who start high school actually complete getting a diploma.

We like to think of your donation as an investment. KKIS is more than a transactional organization we are transforming lives thanks to investors like you.

We want to help to as many students as possible realize their dreams of graduating from high school and going on to university.

A Student story:

Let me introduce you to Irma. Irma is a determined young lady who graduates university in the spring of 2023 with a degree in law.

What makes her so amazing is her dedication to making a big impact on equality for all workers and to treat the environment with fairness.

A donor paid for her 4 years of university. She didn’t take it lightly.

KKIS asked a prominent attorney to give her an internship. Reluctantly the attorney agreed.

Turns out this 1sr year law student was more qualified than the graduates from Mexico City the attorney had working in her office.

We told the story of Irma through a video at our Gala, you can watch it here.

Irma didn’t just receive the financial help to get her law degree. She worked 3 years in a lawyer’s office gaining real world experience and now she has full time employment working.

She is transforming her community by working with a nonprofit to protect the environment and she has successfully stopped the train from causing damage to the local cenotes. She is also bringing awareness to low wage workers about fairness in workplace safety.

• The KKIS Project

Your investment in promising university students like Irma is what creates a better community for all of us.

There are numerous benefits for students to graduate from a university in the Riviera Maya.

By providing university scholarships and other forms of financial and mental assistance, KKIS helps to ensure that students have the resources they need to complete their education and achieve their goals.

By doing this, these students are contributing to the development and progress of the Riviera Maya

A University degree can improve the standard of living for both the students and their families.

Graduating with a university degree can provide students with a sense of personal accomplishment and empowerment. It gives them the confidence they need to pursue their dreams and make positive changes in their community. Many of our university scholarship students work while they are in college to pay for everyday costs.

Education is highly valued in Mexican culture, and it is considered to be one of the key factors for social mobility and success.

Leading to greater awareness and appreciation education expands the mind to different cultures, languages, and ideas. It can help to build bridges between different groups and promote understanding and harmony.

By supporting education through scholarships or as we like to think – investments and other forms of assistance, KKIS helps to foster a more diverse and inclusive community. It also becomes the catalyst for transforming families with dreams and hope that they can break the cycle of poverty.

The KKIS organization helps to ensure that students in the Riviera Maya have access to the benefits of education by providing a range of resources and support.

These include:

Scholarships:

KKIS provides university scholarships to students in the Riviera Maya who have financial constraints, and are at risk of not getting an education they need to realize a path out of poverty and community involvement. These scholarships cover a range of educational expenses, including tuition fees, books, uniforms, and transportation.

Educational resources:

KKIS provides a range of educational resources, such as tutoring, mentoring, and English language classes, to help students succeed in school.

Community support:

KKIS works closely with families, schools, and community organizations to identify students in need and provide the support they require. This collaborative approach ensures that students receive the most comprehensive and effective assistance possible.

Sponsoring a promising student is a personal and rewarding choice.

• The KKIS Project Sponsoring a university student in the Riviera Maya  can be a rewarding and fulfilling experience.

Providing ongoing financial assistance to a specific student, sponsors can see first-hand the impact that their donation is making on the life of the student and their family.

Sponsors may feel a sense of pride and delight knowing that they are contributing to the education and future success of a promising student in need.

It can be a very personal and meaningful way to make a difference in someone’s life and become invested in their future.

The option to get a loan for university is not an option.

What should a university degree cost? In the US it is outrageous. In other countries the cost of higher education is also high.

Here in Mexico our students can go to a local university and get a four-year degree for just $2800 usd per year per student. That is quite a bargain when you think about the actual value it creates.

Sponsoring a student is also a tax-deductible donation. This can provide a financial benefit to the sponsor and may make it more affordable to provide ongoing support to a student.

Overall, sponsoring a student in the Riviera Maya can be a meaningful and impactful way to make a difference in the world while also providing personal satisfaction and potential practical benefits.

The simplest and most effective way to support promising students in Playa del Carmen is to make a donation to KKIS.

KKIS is a non-profit organization that provides scholarships, educational resources, and community support to students in the area who are at risk of dropping out of school due to financial constraints.
