August 25, 2014 – Solidaridad Municipal President, Mauricio Góngora kicked off the Inauguration of the Computer Room Program at Playa del Carmen’s DIF School with high praise for the work that they are doing with the non-profit sector.
The KKIS Project was singled out with a formal thank you for our donation of backpacks and school supplies to over 615 students in Playa del Carmen and for our English program at the DIF 10-17 school which utilizes a computer program donated by LLI-Mexico, a local grassroots education initiative of the Early Education for Every Child Foundation in the United States.
At the press conference, Cinthya Osorio de Góngora, honorary president of the System for Integral Family Development (DIF) Solidarity, Yara Briceño Chablis Farid, CEO and Anabella Calderon, DIF’s School Director, joined Mauricio in thanking each KKIS volunteer in attendance (Marilou Young, Bradley O’Reilly, Sharonlee Latham and Kelly Caldwell) and we in turn, thank our donors and the many other volunteers who join us in giving back to the community.
In his speech, President Gongora announced that the government will be providing backpacks to all students in the over 95 public schools in Playa. He also announced upgrades to buildings throughout the school system.
A very uplifting message and a rewarding day indeed for KKIS and the school children of Playa del Carmen.
