One hand up!

Last week was Round 2 of the Rudolfo Menendez Math Contest in Nicte Ha. This is one of the elementary school where KKIS helps every child with a bag of school supplies.  Teacher Mike initiated this program, produced the graphics and asked KKIS if we could provide prizes for the winners in each grade level.

For several of the problems he provided each child with an envelope of colored paper shapes and they were asked to recreate the image projected on the screen. The first three correct solution makers were awarded points, the total of which would determine who goes on to the final round. A few parents and teachers were gathered around the room to watch the process and cheer the kids on.

These were 4th grade students!  Challenging and very different from regular education methods. The points earned from 10 questions were totaled and six students from each grade will go on to the finals.

The winners of 4th grade, round 2.
