CETMAR, a technical high school in Playa del Carmen, had asked the KKIS Project if we could provide a group of English speaking people with whom their students could interact on a snorkel trip to Akumal. There were 11 of us and 18 student guides that showed up in front of Mega where a large public bus picked us up and transported us.

These are high school kids and soon an iPod was plugged into the bus’ sound system and there was dancing in the isle.

The student guides explained hand signals they would use in the water and off we went to find turtles, bright colored fish and manta reys.
A very good time was had by all. We were asked to write evaluations of each of the students and I doubt there was anything less than “excellent” on any of them.

We are going again next Wed., November 18, 9am – 1pm. If you would like to join us, please send an email to “Contact Us” on the KKIS website.
